Day4 Electrode - solderless modules
The Day4 Electrode replaces the conventional PV cell soldering process that is used by other Solar Panel manufacturers. This improves power output and aesthetic appearance. The Day4 Electrode is a polymer film embedded with specially coated copper wires coated with a low-temperatue melting point alloy that is designed to establish a low-resistance electrical contact with the surface of the PV cell.

Day4's premium solar panels have shading technology that produces more energy than other solar panels. A solar panel can lose power generation when it is shaded or partly shaded from the way the cells are connected within the solar panel. Solar cells within a solar panel are strung together in series much like Christmas lights, when one cell underperforms a whole string can fail. To prevent a whole string from failing, a typical solar panel has bypass diodes that reroute current around the underperforming cells. Rerouting the current loses not only the potential energy from the cells but also lowers the entire string's voltage.
The string of solar panels feed DC current into an inverter that converts it to AC power and optimizes the PV array's power generation through maximum power point tracking (MPPT). In the case of a shaded cell, the inverter is left in a dilemma, optimize the voltage for the underperforming string or maximize the energy harvest from the unaffected strings. In most cases the inverter does the former, causing the power production of the impaired string to drop to near zero.
Day4's Guardian Technology 'Intelligent Shade Technology for the Real World' leverages the flexible cell layout feature of the Day4 Electrode creating a large number of independently operating segments that are able to function even if one or more are shaded.
