Kamloops EQuilibriumTM Home 2010
April 27, 2010.
This project is the 2010 Green Dream Home in Kamloops created by a partnership between the Canadian Home Builders Association (CHBA) and Thompson River University (TRU) Training House. The builder-developer is a consortium of the Canadian Home Builders Association Central Interior (CHBA CI) and students from a wide variety of Thompson Rivers University (TRU) programs. This will be a net-zero home on completion and raffled off in a lottery to raise funds for the YWCA. Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) will utilize this green home as a demonstration that we CAN build green net zero homes and these systems are one way we can do it!
Future Energy worked with the guys from Riverside Energy (great good looking guys!) to install the 6.84kw Solar Photovoltaic panels that consist of 36 Day4 48MC Solar Panels.
The weather was great with the sun shining for the solar panel installation days. Here is a recap of the project installation:

Paul Fletcher and associate taking a break from the Unirac solar panel racking installation. |
|
The Day4 48MC solar panels have arrived and being unloaded by Minder and Paul. Thanks for Kamloops Home Hardware for storing these solar panels until they were ready for install. |

Ben, Minder, Paul and Tyler on the 12:12 pitch roof installing the first set of panels. That was a steep roof! |
| You can see the steepness in the roof from this angle of picture during installation. It would have been sphincter clutch time if rain or snow was around. | |
|
|
Good progress on the solar panel installation! |
| Installation coming to completion, just a few more to go...and it's Canucks time... | |
|
|
Paul is making sure the alignment is perfect. Tyler and Minder can't believe how straight the panels have lined up. |
|
Kamloops leaves a lasting impression of clear skies and great mountain backdrops 360 degress. What a beautiful place! |

Fronius 1800W 240v and Fronius IG 4000 240 Grid Tie Inverter in the mechanical room. |
| The near finished installation has nice curb appeal and turned every head that passed by! This is a great project to showcase Solar PV systems and how they can help with becoming net zero. | |

Group photo of the crew from Future Energy and Riverside Energy. How about having this crew install your Solar PV system? |
This Solar PV system is grid tied and will most likely produce more electricity than the home user with use. CHBA is currently working with Corix (electricity utility supplier) on the net meetering logistics and buy back program for the amount of power generated and sold to the utility grid. Lucky person will win this Green Dream home - purchase your tickets now, you never know!
